Notes

11/23/2021 - First Brew on Brewzilla system. It was difficult to mash in with the overflow tube sticking up in the middle of the mash tube/basket. I also figured out that 1.5 qts/lb of mash water was not enough and had to add another gallon to the batch. This means that in order to mash in decently, I will need to use 2 qts/lb of initial water which isn't a big deal. Also, my pump got stuck when I first tried to recirculate. I pulled out the tube and blew into it, and that fixed the issue. I plan to heat my sparge water on the stove (2.6 gallons at this point) and I will try a manual fly sparge by slowly pouring water over the top mash screen and see how that works.

Pre-Boil SG: 1.048
Post-Boil (40 minutes): 1.052

Start: 6:45am
Boil: 8:45am

Start Chilling with recirculation arm & pump on full: 9:22am
Chilled to 72 degrees and pumped to fermenter: 9:50am

Pumped to fermenter and pitched yesat. The volume going into the fermenter was a bit high, so I may reduce the batch size next time to compensate.

**I noticed quite a bit of grain bits stuck to the bottom screen, which makes sense considering I wsa having a problem stirring the grain with the overflow tube in place. I will try mashing next time without the overflow tube and maybe use a grain bag. I bought a little stainless plug for the overflow tube hole, so that should help things along.

12/17/2021 - I wasn't getting a ton of flavor out of this batch, so I decided to add a vial of LorAnne Apricot extract to the keg and give it a shake.
